Wittersham, St John the Baptist PDF Print E-mail

Wittersham.jpgSt John's is a beautiful 13th. century church which is a focus for worship and commemoration in the village. It is open every day and visited frequently by people using its 'sacred space' for prayer and reflection.

The special services for Christmas, Easter, Harvest, All Souls and Remembrance Sunday are well supported by the community.

The Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday. There is a Family Service and Prayer Book Mattins both once a month with the main Sunday morning service normally beginning at 10.30am. Choral Evensongs are held about four times a year on special occasions.

A group meets for prayer in the church every Tuesday morning. There is a devoted choir and a stalwart group of bell ringers.

The church is supported by wonderful commitment from its members.

'Songs of Praise' takes place in the Village Hall on Sunday afternoons every other month.

Wittersham is in a parish 'cluster' with Appledore, Ebony, Stone and Woodchurchstudygrp.jpg

On the fifth Sunday in the month joint benefice or cluster services are held and service times may vary so please check with the priest in charge for information.

A house group with an ecumenical membership meets twice a month. There are strong ties with the church Primary School adjacent to the church. The pupils use the church regularly for special services and as a resource for Religious Education.
