All Saints, longest church in Kent and with one of the highest towers, dominates the small town of Lydd which was once a cross-channel port and corporate member of the cinque ports. It has oftern been referred to as 'The Cathedral of the Marsh', not only because of it's size, but also for it's unusual double west doors, very much like a cathedral in design.

In 1940 it's east end was destroyed by a bomb, and the re-built chancel, in Early English design, is a delightful and light open space.

Today the church, some of which is either Saxon or Romano-British in origin, also plays a significant part in town life, often hosting civic services, concerts and exhibitions, as well as being a favourite stop on heritage tours.

It is also very much the spiritual heart of the community, with regular 10.30 a.m. Sunday services in a variety of different styles (both traditional and modern) a Sunday Club for children, and a youth group for teenagers. A number of house groups meet regularly in homes, and occasional Alpha courses take place for those who wish to explore Christian faith.

A new monthly activity in church is called 'Messy Church'. Designed for families, it includes craft work, worship and tea together. On the first Sunday of each month, it starts at 4.00 p.m.

Particularly for those who do not find Sunday services convenient, each Thursday evening at 8.00 p.m. there is a half hour 'Quiet Prayer' in the North Chapel, which includes gentle music, and an opportunity to light candles as a symbol of prayers offered.

There is also a light lunch for mother's and toddlers on the first Wednesday of each month in the Hardy Hall, Skinner Road, and for the older generations 'Meeting Point' every Thursday morning serves coffee and tea as people chat with friends.
