St Peter and St Paul, Dymchurch, a small Norman church dating from about AD1150.
It is built from the same Caen stone as Canterbury Cathedral filled in with Kentish ragstone.
Visitors are struck by the feeling of welcome and an aura of holiness from being consecrated for so many years.
There is a good relationship with the other two churches in the village, the Methodist Church and the Roman Catholic church and several annual events go round in succession between all three, for example, the Women’s World Day of Prayer.
Raising money for the Hospice is also a joint venture with representatives from the three churches on the Committee.
Every two years the village organises a Day of Syn based on Russell Thorndike’s Dr Syn when Evensong is held in church with all in costume often supported by Gallery Carollers.
